Entry deadline is August 26, so just a couple weeks. Please get your entries in ASAP, so I can plan accordingly. I know I have been training…Have you?

Eric, I will put my entry in the mail when I get off work this morning. As for training…I’ve done some very disappointing Thor’s Hammer workouts and did a test session with the Kennedy Lift. I was pretty sure it wasn’t going to irritate my back, but I was wrong and it does bother it for whatever reason. Not a big deal, but it means I won’t be able to train it. I think I’ll be okay on contest day but I can’t afford to take a chance and end up hurting myself with the huge amount of overtime we’ve had at work the past few months.

My MRI results came back and I met with a specialist and he said my (left) shoulder is the worst he’s ever seen on a 42-year-old. There is a bone spur (among many other injuries/issues) the size of a big marble that made the doctor audibly gasp when viewing the scan with me. It is not repairable with anything but a full replacement. I took the news kind of hard since I had high hopes of getting it surgically repaired and able to overhead press and do other cool things like pullups again. The silver lining is that I won’t be doing the Hack Press one handed, lol. It will be one shouldered essentially, but no biggie since it’s only something I will do at the contest since I can’t handle the pain of training it.

The specialist did say that when my daily pain level becomes intolerable (it’s only about a 3 every day) I can come back and let him know I’m ready to get my shoulder replaced.

Eric, I am planning on coming, but I don’t know how much I will be able to do. On Friday I was doing leg presses and on my last heavy set, I got a sharp pain in my groin. I don’t know yet if is caused by my hip or if it’s just a groin pull. I tried to do some one hand Ciavattone Deadlifts this morning and couldn’t do them. I will let you know for sure if I’m coming by the end of this week.

Hope you can make it Denny. Sorry to hear about the groin. Are you sure no one kicked you there?
