Hey Lance, who cares about the silly crap on T-nation? Just conjecture and hype with no factual foundation.

But more importantly, how did Dave get credit for the Jefferson…aren’t you supposed to be in control of the bar? He clearly just dropped it on his 2nd and 3rd attempts.

I think you guys are missing the point. This isn’t about some of the crap on the internet, even though there is a lot of credible science-based information as well, nor about silly attempts to up me by one. This ought to be about a CLEARLY faulty lift receiving record status within USAWA.

How can something so flagrantly wrong not receive attention? Moreover, who in their right mind would publish proof of an illegal lift on the internet for the world to see while claiming it to be a record?

My point in posting the t-nation article was that the author did not do much in the way of a literature review, or otherwise, the USAWA would have received some mention, at least in passing. I have not watched the video.

No…I get that Lance. And my point was that you shouldn’t expect any more than that from T-nation. And although there was no mention of USAWA in the article, it does appear in the video. To me that brings disrepute on the organization because the lift was so objectionable. Maybe it’s just me…

This was voted a no lift by every IAWA ref asked of their opinion.

I sent them a video of me doing a 535.5lb Jefferson Lift-Fulton Bar at the Gold Cup this year AND the lift WAS passed!!

The question is, was it passed by a USAWA official in a snactioned meet? If so, then it is what it is. I would not have passed it, as I would not pass any lift where the bar was dropped. If it was passed as a record, then it was not the lifteres fault. Just as a record in a squat that was passed even though it was high would not be the lifters fault. That is why we, as officials, must be dilegent to officiate strictly according to the rules as set forth by our organization.

Dan – I have pretty low expectations when it comes to T-nation; every once in a while there is an article based in reality…like when Andy Bolton wrote an article about deadlifting.
