That is an awesome feeling after being injured and having a pain free day. Really makes you appreciate it! Somedays, I’ll workout and if I have a bad day just remember I’m thankful to be out there doing it…PERIOD!

Jarrod, the most important thing about “coming back” from an injury is maintaining a positive mindset. I know – I have had a couple of injury setbacks in my lifting career that at the time made me wonder if I would EVER be able to resume heavy training again. But the body is an amazing thing – and it’s ability to heal and adapt to training always suprises me. Pick things you can focus on (that are within your physcial abilities now) and work them hard, and the improvement you will see will keep your spirits up. Al
thanks al, you’re absolutely right about mindset being key. i’m very lucky to be under good chiropractic care, & besides, i’m getting a lot of cardio & grip training in right now! also i’m practicing my lifts awkward rather than heavy. using a barbell for my TGUs, lifting railroad ties, etc. thanks for the encouragement.
As the great New England Olympic Weightlifter and Newsletter publisher Denis Reno has told me…EVERYTHING HEALS! To have him say that was quite an encouragement. It is true. Good luck!!
man i hope so! my ligament tear/L5 problem may be chronic. but i think the worst case scenario will be no back squats for life, which quite honestly is okay with me.
