Update for Nationals 2025

by Clint Poore

2025 is off to a roaring start ! We are 4 months away from the 2025 USAWA Nationals & the early preparations are going well. The Kentucky team is putting in the hours and making plans to help ensure everyone has a fantastic experience at the 2025 USAWA Nationals at Dale Hollow State Park & Resort in Burkesville, Kentucky.

Here are some things to remember as you prepare this year’s USAWA Nationals.

1. You must register online; late entries will not be accepted and the entry deadline is July 1st. It’s easy and you can be registered for the meet immediately. Details for entry are here.

2. We have a group block of 30 rooms reserved at Dale Hollow State Resort. Once they are gone, there will not be any more added. Also, the group block will be released 2 months prior to the meet. You will not be able to get a room at Dale Hollow Resort if you wait until the last minute, because it’s summer time and people come from all over the country to enjoy Dale Hollow Lake. There are other options for hotels but they are a minimum of 15 minutes or more from the resort.

3. You must be a USAWA member prior to the meet to compete in this event. You can buy your 2025 USAWA membership today on the website.

4. This is going to be an exciting meet with tremendous lifting. I hope you can join us for this monumental weekend in Burkesville, Kentucky. Bring your whole family together and enjoy beautiful Dale Hollow Lake for a few days. It’s a gorgeous location that has something for everyone in the family to do.

5. Below is the preliminary roster for the 2025 USAWA Nationals. These are the confirmed athletes who will be attending the 2025 USAWA Nationals, with many more to be added soon. Please make sure you complete the online registration to finalize your meet entry.  Its going to be fun!

Colorado Single Arm Challenge – Results

by Sanjiv Gupta

The Colorado Single Arm Challenge was a rousing success and a fun way to ring in the month of March.  Jarrod, Sanjiv, Kim, Diya and Nisha competed at the host site in Lakewood and we had (11) remote lifters submit results as well.

Although I have participated in several other meets remotely, this was only the second sanctioned event hosted from High Country Vigour.  It is always a little stressful managing the pace of competition, my own lifting, making sure the lifts are accurately recorded, spotting, loading and officiating.  Fortunately our little club in Colorado supports each other by providing equipment, encouragement and all around good attitudes.

Some of also squeezed in the Q1 Postal Lifts and some records.  It made for a challenging 3 hour local competition.

The record session was exciting as well.  In Lakewood, Jarrod gave the Inch Dumbbells a ride.  In Missouri, Riley had an amazing Pinch Grip Deadlift at 355 pounds which I would have loved to see.  There were also some fun team records as well.

Meet Director:  Sanjiv Gupta (sanjiv_gupta@hotmail.com or 720-938-2029)

Award:  Winning club will receive a plaque.

I would love to have everybody converge in Denver for some lifting but given that we are the furthest west club in the country, it may be appropriate to make a concession.  All four lifts are classics that have been contested during the club championships at least once.  They are easy to set-up and officiate.  Official scoring will be used and the top 3 lifters from each club will be summed to determine the championship.

If a club enters with only 2 athletes, a score of 80% of the second highest athlete will be added to create a total.

If a club enters with only 1 athlete, a score of 80% of the athlete and 60% of the athlete will be added to create a total.

Thanks to Ambridge Barbell Club and Ledaig Heavy Athletics for hosting this championship from 2010-2019.  Hopefully 2025 will bring some pride and excitement to being the strongest All-Round club in the United States.
