We currently only have one grip competition per year – our grip championships in February. Since we are an all-round organization, we don’t focus on any one type of strength. We do have guys in the organization that are grip specialists (as well as all rounders) and attend grip meets in other organizations. Guys like Ben Edwards. Ben – if you are reading this, maybe you could help out more with this question???? Al

Just read this Al. I’ve been off the forum for a while.

Derrick, get a hold of me if you want to attend other grip comps. I’m in Lawrence, Kansas. And there are a few guys in the KCK area and St. Louis area that are superb grip guys. I would definitely recommend not focusing solely on grip to the exclusion of the USAWA contests though. And not just because I’m talking on the open forum here. Grip is great – I enjoy training it more than anything else. But the all-round lifts are very special and they hold a high place in my world too. I might not train them as often as I should…but when I do I feel connected to history.

My e-mail is goalorientedtraining@mail2strong.com. Also the one I use here on the forum (wordstrength@mail2world.com) is good to reach me at. My phone number is 785-218-5039 if you prefer the phone or texting to e-mail. If you’re in the Kansas area we could hook up for a training session one of these days if you’d like. I’m pretty strong on grippers and vertical bar. And about mid-pack on most of the rest of the grip stuff.
