I am going to try to make it out. I need some clarification on the rules of the Anderson squat and press so that I can train the same why it will be done at the meet. In the rule book it states the “squat is done from a dead stop from a height not over two thirds the height of the lifter measured from the bottom of the bar”. Ok, so in my mind that means it could be less than two thirds, but how much? An inch? Two, three, six? At the meet do the loaders adjust the rack for each lifter, for each attempt? Or do all the lifters who are between say 5’6 and 5’9 get the same rack position? An inch or two either way could make quite a difference in my mind. (I know, insert joke here). I have the same question in regards to the Anderson Press as the rules are written with the same concept.
They use diff sized plywood sheets to adjust. So usually group guys by peg then adjust with however many plywood boards you need. Obviously, you want it as high as possible
Mike – The height of the bar on the Anderson squat is right at 2/3 the lifter’s height.
The height of the bar on the Anderson press is no higher than the lifter’s height, so it can be lowered, but since it is a strict press, it helps to have the range of motion shortened; the lifter’s back can bow, as long as the knees remain locked.
