I was really humbled by this article. I get a lot of trouble when Al pointed out I seemed to write alot of article about “me”, but this was hard for me to read. That was a long, difficult climb and I feel blessed and fortunate on many levels.
As for the eye patch, funny enough, I had to wear one for about a year. I got one of the cool “pirate” style patches. I still keep one, a lot of people don’t know this but I’m partially blind in my left eye and suffer double vision. I wear the patch when it gets bad….plus it makes me look basazz! haha
On a side note, I had a short haircut when I went into the hospital. That picture shows how long I had already been there as that’s how long my hair go. I decided not to get it cut for about 6 months….until this old guy thought I was a “little girl”!!! haha I immediately went to the barber shop. When I told the barber (an old WWII vet) that I wanted it all cut off, a crew cut, he smile and said, “This one’s on me, and if any of your friends want the same, I’ll cut their’s for free, too”. The Peanut gallery in the barber shop erupted into laughter and clapped when I got done. This was your classic barber shop, even had the shoe shine stand.
