ABSOLUTELY agree 100% with Denny’s statement. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Al!! I know for a fact that I would NEVER had found out about/joined this organization without an internet presence. The ONLY reference I saw to anything relating to current All-Round Lifting was a picture of Bill Clark doing a Hip Lift that was a IAWA record. The picture was in PL USA but, didn’t include any type of contact info. Had I known about the USAWA 10 years earlier, I WOULD HAVE JOINED 10 YEARS EARLIER. For this reason, I try to promote not just All-Round Lifting but, also COMPETITIVE All-Round Lifting via my Strongman Archaeology Facebook page. Thanks again Al, we couldn’t do it without YOU!!

Yes, history of how the Clean & Press changed from the 1920s up until it was discontinued.

I will SECOND squeezing the bar hard on the Middle Finger Deadlift. Light sets are bare while I will tape up for the heavier sets. Skin seems to tear easily once I get over 300lb.

Yeah, what’s this warm up foolishness that I have to do now. I can’t just jump in and get after it like I’m 23? 33?

I think it is from a bunch of beer-drinking men who knocked over their keg and instead of putting it back upright, cajoled each other to lift it, as is.

                        🙂

                        Now THAT’S a story I could believe!

Great article Dave!! Yes, train harder and smarter. Pop was(and still is @70 years old)always trying to get me to work smart on the chores he had for me. It wasn’t ’til later on I realized it wasn’t about cheating out of work, it was about enabling me to get a SERIOUS amount of work finished. Whether with chores or training…you just can’t beat good instruction. Thanks again for writing this. Where do you live because I’ll move from Maine to start at such a measly amount at the electrical shop!!
