So true Thom – there is nothing wrong with “mixing things up” every now and then. I plan to run around a dozen stories from the BST over the next couple of weeks. Most of them are pretty entertaining! Al
Yeah, that was fun!!! That combine axle will stay out front of the gym for anyone who wants to give it a try. Now – who will be the first one to lift it by themselves???? I only know one person who has a good shot at it – John Conners!!! Maybe I’ll talk him into giving it a try this weekend. Al
GREAT IDEA! (but Tedd would actually have to buy an egg for this to happen)
Ben, I sure hope you make it to the record day this month. I got a couple of new “grip toys” that I want to show you. Thanks for sharing Adam Glass’s Blog (http://www.adamtglass.com/) – it is very interesting. I will follow it from now on. Al
I’m glad you did that Dan!!! I’m not surprised at all that your ab muscles are sore today by doing that exercise. Next time that you are at the gym check out my listing of ab exercises posted above the desk. I have them in three catagories – Heavy, moderate, and light. I try to pick one exercise from each group on my ab training day. I “warm up” with one from the light list, then do one from the heavy list, and finish with one from the moderate list. The exercises on the heavy list are very tough and WILL make you very sore! Al
Don’t fall into Tedds trap Chad – he really doesn’t have an egg. Its going to take some “hard proof” for me to be convinced that he owns one, and not just being an egg pretender.
James – I have never done an exercise exactly as you described, but I often do high pulls to cords I have set at 50 inches. If I don’t touch the bar to the elastic cords I don’t count it as a rep (just to keep me honest and my reps the same). I like this lift better than cleans because I’m not limited by my flexibility (lack of that is) and I feel it helps in developing explosive strength off the floor. I use an athletic stance instead of a sumo stance and position my hands in the position of a clean on the bar. I would worry about shoulder impingement becoming a problem using a close grip (much the same as doing upright rows, an exercise I hate) with long term training this way. Just my two cents worth. Al
Dave set an example of hospitality that will be hard for anyone else to follow. My Dino Days are coming up and now the pressure is on me! During the Saturday evening festivities, Thom looked at me and remarked, “I don’t ever remember there being LIVE MUSIC at the Dino Gym!”
My hat is off to you Dave! Al
I second what Chad said! The Glasgows put on ONE FINE SHOW this weekend and I know I sure enjoyed myself! Thank you!!!! Al
I have my cooler stocked with beverages so I can survive this weekends “sweat fest” at the Ledaig Record Breaker!!! Al
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone!!
But look at this way Big T – I gonna fry you some bacon on the egg this weekend! Life doesn’t get better than that! If you get time, check out my SECOND favorite forum on the internet – http://www.eggheadforum.com/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&Itemid=112&func=showcat&catid=1
What??? I just got done visiting with Brian and got a good price worked out for you since you are such a nice guy! And this has been the SECOND TIME I have done this for you and you STILL don’t get one from us.
The next time I see you I’m going to give you a “Tully Special”.
Dave, You forgot the stocktank. I bet Tedd could make that one!! haha
Everyone should take the time to fill out the thank you to the Kirksville chamber of commerce thanking them for the grant. Thom went to lots of work securing this money for our meet, and it is the least we can do in return. Al
Let me do a little research on the Roman Chair and I’ll write a blog about it. Great story idea!! Al
