Dave’s correct – Felecia Simms is on the list.
My kids are out of school for the third day in a row. At least today it looks like the roads will get cleared off – but bad weather is not good for my business. Yesterday afternoon most all appointments canceled – so as Thom said – nothing else to do but hit the gym!! I spent a total of 4 hours training yesterday and today I’m feeling it! Al
3 more entries:
Dave Glasgow
Mike Murdock
Al MyersTom – Thanks for that history on the Zercher!! I agree that it probably never has been the “meet everyone wanted to attend”, but in the early days it was always very well represented. I have seen the meet results when the three Zerchers competed (1988), and it looked like a fierce competition. It was a real battle between Steve Schmidt and Phil Anderson, with Steve getting him in the end. I see that you were second in the 40-44 age group to the great powerlifter Brian Meek. Do you remember the lift you beat him in on that day?? Al
I have always kept a training log. From the first day I lifted a weight I have “recorded” my workout. Every year I start a new log so I now have a stack of these old logs that is quite high! I occasionally look back at them and remember all of the old workout programs I have tried in the past. Some worked, some didn’t, and some worked once but not again. I have tried out about EVERY program at least once. As I look at some of the old programs I tried I wonder now why I even wasted my time on them!! But I believed in them at the time I tried them. Weight training is an ongoing self experiment. The only problem is once you have it all figured out your body is worn out!! haha Al
I agree. All four sent in great stories. I’m just glad I’m not the one doing the selection – because ALL OF THEM are deserving of the win. The first story will appear tomorrow. Al
Scott is right. Hard work is the real secret. Everything else is truly just “fluff”. Al
Thom – So you are saying you would MAKE UP questions if you were doing the advice column????? That doesn’t seem very ethical to me as a journalist to do something like that!!!!!!! But maybe thats just me – take the high ground by always telling the truth and reporting things exactly as they are. Al
I had to put the cardio equipment picture on the website to give the illusion that we train for our health!! haha Actually, it gets more use now than it used to. For example, when Scott cramps up lifting he gets on the bike a while to loosen his hammys back up. The seat on the recumbant bike is pretty comfortable – and is a good place to “catch a nap” before the next set. Al PS The truth is my wife has her eyes on a new commercial treadmill that costs more than a new certified eleiko set!!
Oh, I will keep the advice column going!! I got lots more good advice just like what was in Dear Dino Man!!!
Yeah, I can’t believe I’m turning into a computer geek. Al
This is the entry list so far for Grip Nationals from those that have sent in their entries or have “told me” they will:
Ben Edwards
Scott Tully
Mark Mitchell
LaVerne Myers
Rudy Bletscher
Denny HabeckerI really expect 10-15 competitors the time it is all said and done. Al
Thanks guys! It is actually the old USAWA site. I deleted everything and added all the new stuff in only a couple of hours!!! Al
And it involves laying down???? Hmmm….
Chad – I thought I was the only guy you would share a bed with!!
Yeah right – then you try it! Put the dollar sign right in front of the amount and it gets ERASED when you save it! Blame it on the computer goblin! Al
