It was a great weekend of lifting for everyone present – plus one of the most enjoyable Nationals I have ever attended. I will try to highlight everything in the meet writeup tomorrow – but there is so much to talk about it may end up being a pretty long writeup! All I want to say is – THANK YOU DENNY AND JUDY!!! Al
Long tiring weekend of lifting. Denny did a great job putting on the meet. Overall placings first meself second chad third denny and fourth randy smith. I’ll get the full writeup up tomorrow when I get home. Al
Chad and I finally made it to lebanon! We both feeling good and ready to lift tomorrow. I’m looking forward to a fun time this weekend! Al
Scott, Enjoy being young – there was once a day myself where I would do a full competition one day and then drive home to work out the next. I can’t do that anymore! But I admire your training willpower – most people wouldn’t do THAT even if they could! And it looked like you were having good workout. Al
haha I need to get it done anyhow. There are still a few “kinks” in the event calendar to work out yet, but hopefully, by the end of the day everything will be up and working with it.
Chad and I had a great workout yesterday – trained all the events for next weekend’s meet. You should have worked out later and stayed for supper. I grilled us up several bacon-wrapped filet mignons, to go along with some cheesy potatoes, all washed down with cold beer! What a great day! When my wife asked me what I wanted to do on Father’s Day – I said, “just have a good workout!” Al
The schedule is located on the right under USAWA Future Events. It is still not fully updated – and I need to add several more comps that are sanctioned. I will try to get that done today for you. Al
So true – but the Dino Gym has “Bomb” farmers weights. Does the JWC have these? Al
Dave – those “drill bit” farmers implements are the “meanest” looking farmers implements I have ever seen!! I am sure they will be a big hit in the JWC’s shows. Al
Bill, How’s the shoulder? Is it healed up yet? Maybe you’ll get back in time to join us for the IAWA team postal meet! Al
Welcome Travis!!
For those of you who don’t know Travis – he is the 4th American to ever lift both Dinnie Stones unassisted! I believe you did it last September?
Travis – you would “fit right in” with the USAWA. Alot of lifts are determined by “gripping strength” and that is something you got!!
I “attempted” the Dinnie Stones in 2005 when I was in Scotland competing in the Highland Games. I was able at the time to lift the smaller stone unassisted with both hands, but the big one was just out of my grasp. But these past 5 years in All-Rounds has increased my “hook grip” strength tremendously and I sure would like another shot at them. Al
Thanks Dave for posting – I was starting to worry that no one was able to access this forum!! Al
Yes – I was not very original!! And Thom – I knew it wasn’t Tedd because Brock wasn’t getting insulted! ha Al
Yeah – this is going to be different and it will take so time to “iron out” the bugs. I guess I’m going to let everyone use “their secret alias name” this time around. It will add to the “drama” of this forum. But Thom, trying to pass yourself off as your brother Tedd is just a little weird. Al
