Ha-That is Mark Rippentoe. I have one of his books.

Looks like a fun meet.

OK, I can appreciate those points. And you are probably right, I reckon I have some work to do. BTW, Chad, you are full of it. You are good at the heavy lifts. You have been in the top 2 or three at the championship on several occasions.

Thank you, Ruth. I don’t know about “best” dad, but I am certainly a proud one!

Only regret that I have is that I did not get to catch up with everybody as much as I might have liked.

This as a GREAT meet. It was awesome to see everyone. There were some really good lifters in this meet, and it was a blast to share the platform with everybody. Al, thank you so much for putting this on. It was truly a quality event.

Phoebe will be there as well, so 2. She has trained hard and is about as exited as she gets.

This is going to be fun.

Yeah, he had some rather unique methods, to say the least. I am going off the fuzzy memory here, but I think the meet was called “old settlers day” (maybe as part of festival in town or something?) and Justa was injured after a lift or two and withdrew. Was that the extent of his participation?

Huh. i guess I did not realize ASAG was still a thing. The website seems quite defunct.

Here is my 2 cents on the matter. While the certificates that John Wilmot sent out were nice and appreciated, each one had to have cost postage. I am guessing he ate that cost? I love the postal series, but I wonder if one of the draws for some lifters is that it is free. I personally would prefer not to pay and not get any award. The vast majority of my awards at this point are boxed up or in a pile on an old pool table in the basement. I would lie to say that early on I did not enjoy getting them, though.
Remember when that Australian fellow (maybe Frank Lamp) promoter a world postal? There were medals in display cases for the lifters, a printed booklet of all the results, and award plaques for the top lifters. It was very neat and looked forward to. He had to quit doing this, because it became cost prohibitive.
As far as the 3 vs 5 lifts for postals, I am indifferent. We just might have to move along a little quicker to get through the 5 in a timely fashion, as we sometimes move rather slow on postal days (LOL).

Nice lifting, Abe. What is the bsag? We are planning on doing our postal lifts after nats.

Look forward to seeing you there. We are actually going out Friday afternoon and coming back Sunday morning.

You know, I had never really thought about doing that for postals. Will have to start.

12 is certainly better than 3.
