Thanks Denny. I appreciate the advise and will try it.
Commenting from the perspective of a female lifter, I am for eliminating the 5-lift limit for the following reasons:
1. There is an unacceptable amount of lifts without records. I believe the lack of women’s records is a strong indicator to anyone checking out USAWA that this is not a sport most women take serious enough to participate in. Therefore, providing women an opportunity to set more records, not less, will only enhance the organization’s credibility and the value of the sport for women.
2. It is far more satisfying to break a record than to set one. It is difficult enough to get women to compete in this sport, let alone have them do extra lifts or compete in a records day, so why would you limit them?
I would be interested if any other women have something to say.
I enjoy reading your enthusiasm. Makes me want to be there at Clark’s gym.
I did mine yesterday and was surprised with the results. Did not break my 2 bb dl record but I feel that I could have if I had the rest of the year to train, in other words, if it was a 4th quarter lift instead of a 1st quarter lift. Did a huge 5 lb jump in my rh swing and missed it but did better by 1 pound in the Holdout raised.
I am an average height female at 5’4″ and need something under my feet for the bench press. Thus, I assume that a rule would also benefit many other women.
I hope the following will be of some help.
I, like Denny above, tried for years but with no luck.
As to Randy’s comment about other lifters, I would hear University gym student’s (average age of 24 y.o.) comment:
-She is doing that lift wrong
-That is a dangerous lift and she should not be allowed to do it.
-She should not be allowed to do that lift because it is endangering others. [For example the 1 hand snatch. They would think that I could not control it and it would fly off the platform.]
-I don’t get it? Why would you do that? A better lift would be….
-She should be doing that lift with dumbbells not a barbell
-She is not using the equipment appropriately. You get the idea. The University gym goers were mostly about criticizing me to their friends.
But, of course, no one criticized Dan when he use to lift at the University gym. In fact, from the comments I heard, he had a male admirers.
I am one of the members Clint refers to. I always wanted to participate in the annual meeting and if I could, I would attend every national meet.
Thus, I am in support and would vote.
Thank you,
RJNice photos on the write-up.
Joe just needs to stay strong like he knows how. The platform will be waiting for him. Best wishes for recovery.
If you wish, I can do women. My Excel is old version 15.29. Data entry only.
Me too. I am looking forward to the 3rd quarter even though there are two power lifts. Though I do not do well with highly technical lifts, its nice to have in All-Round.
Thanks!
Can someone comment on what was the “Straight Weight Postal” done in 2010?
AWE! 🙂
Very impressive!
Thanks to Abe for posting photos on FB.
ET you must be the best dad. Phoebe is becoming the a “little lady” lifter… almost not a kiddo anymore.
