I notice Dean did a Harness Lift of 1,010 lbs. He must love those heavy lifts. I remember seeing him do the Carter Lift with 433 pounds. Big lifts for big men.
However knowing that he has >226 records, I wonder what lifts he has not done.

I looked him up and he is a “StrongFirst: School of Strength” certified instructor.
Too me it looks like CrossFit where they have their own competitions. They do flexed arm hang, deadlift, kettlebell snatches for reps, one-leg squat, pull up for reps … in the Novice, open and elite divisions.
He is a promoter of StrongFirst (established 2013) that has really cool “Tactical Strength Challenges” and such. I just don’t think that people who are into the newest, up and coming, hyped sports are going to interested in USAWA.
However I don’t think it would hurt to try. He does pinky finger lifts, has an Inch Db and a strong bent press like you said.

Very nice. I remember reading about the Chisom Trail because it is a part of the history of the West. Thus it is also a part of our Colorado History course. Thanks, I really enjoyed it.
I like the photo of Art sitting in front of the rusty barbell.
Yes! A very exciting World’s for the women.
Also very proud to have Art representing. Very few organizations have anyone lifting in their 8th decade let alone competing at Worlds. I really think that says a lot!

Thanks for letting us know. Crystal, Daryl and I won’t have ours in until the 23rd at the earliest.
-RJDo we have to wait for the web site upgrade to find out what went on?
Your words of anticipation make me bummed that I cannot be there. But on a more positive note, thanks to your write-up I can participate by proxy. I’ll be rooting for you to pull off some really good numbers.
Just wanted to thank Denny for posting the Postal series for the entire year. On a personal level, I greatly appreciated it because it helps me train and mentally know what my year will be like. I also think it helps USAWA look better to have the events listed.
As a side note, (Dan and) I was hoping to go to Grip Championships but my left shoulder was injured on Friday. I commute to work on my bike and to avoid a vehicle, I crashed my bicycle slamming hard on my left side. I have recovered well following Dan’s instruction to know that it looks favorable that I will be okay given time. I am back to riding my bike to work but no where near being able to lift heavy.
Thank you Al for getting all our 2014 records in.
Yeah now I am big enough to participate in Highland Games with the big-gurls instead of just being a shagger for the hammer throw (Masters World championships).
🙂
I think it is from a bunch of beer-drinking men who knocked over their keg and instead of putting it back upright, cajoled each other to lift it, as is.
🙂
But isn’t more to the spirit of USAWA to use original tools and implements than to use one that is specially fitted to best aid the lifter?
It is like the Olympic canoes and kayaks. To me they don’t even look like the originals. Yes they are better but now they have just morphed into the same type of structures that are no where near what a real wooden ones were like.
However I am all for IAWA (UK), USAWA, ARWLWA, and IAWA (Spain)rules being the same especially after finding out that they are allowed knurling on the 2″ bar.
I checked out Jenna on the web because she was such a strong competitor at your meet. I see that she is a very serious Strongwoman and other strength athlete. I hope she sticks with USAWA. Very impressive.
It was also nice to see that your lift brought about a write-up on a women especially one as committed as Noi. It is apparent by her records and meet history that she was a true strength athlete passionate for the sport.
