Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderI recently went from 310lbs to 277lbs. I am at 283 right now after the holidays got me out of my routine. However, with Jan. 1 I plan on getting back on the “weight loss wagon”. I have added some passive cardio (lots of walking most every day) and lots of stretching and more of a “Bill Pearl” bodybuilding program. I am considering where I want to end up with my bodyweight. My weight training is much higher reps and total poundage right now. Thanks for the kind words. Al stole that off my facebook page….I owe my wife for that one!

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderI will be there and I’ll be bringing John O’Brien and Mike McIntyre who will be lifting and I’ll be shooting!

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderI guess I’m basing my guess on it being a “club” meet because the USAWA rules require a 6 week notice of a meet….I’m sure a stickler for the rules like Clark would do that….’cause I know he’d put the hammer on anyone who didn’t follow the rules when he was running the show! HAHA.

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderI have heard that there was an Non-USAWA meet going on there, but I don’t know the details. More of a “club” meet from the sounds of it.

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderThere will be a story with the rules soon, but basically, think of a pullover and press without the pullover, the weight will be on blocks and you will just push straight up.

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderThe picture on facebook of Al lifting, either it was taken as he was setting them back down or he literally has the front stone gripped in his finger tips. I have seen Al use that grip in the Highland Games to get an extra inch or so of leverage….so I know he can grip that was.
Also saw the picture of Chad. Chad, while it appears that you “smoked” them, it’s still remarkable you lifted them at all, so lifting them that way you did just solidified you in the strength world.
OH…and OOOOOAAAAAAHHHHHH WHAT A RUSH! Is this how you guys came in to make your lifts!!!!!

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderIsn’t that like saying women are two thirds of a man when you say they get 1/3rd added to their score?
Oh…another thing….
A real man doesn’t beat women…HAHAHAThom Van Vleck
Jackson Weightlifting Club
Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderMake that 4-0…..I appreciate that men and women are BOTH allowed to lift, but keep it separate.
I have about 10 different reasons that I don’t even want to go into due to some of them causing arguments. I’ll just put my vote in for now.

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderWhat Al said…
But the “best” case scenario is we have 2 or 3 meets leading up to the Championships….so I’ll lay the challenge out to some of the other clubs to have one.

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderWhen I had my OTSM meet the other day, I made up certificates and put me and Al on them for signatures and under Al’s name I put, IAWA President….he started to sign it and gave me a sly grin…..I asked him if he minded me putting that and he said, “Well…no…I am”. I thought it was kinda funny as I think that’s when reality sunk in.

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderThanks, guys, for the kind words. I really do put my heart and soul into these things and I totally understand when life throws a curve ball….like job issues, family issues, health issues. Those can’t be helped.
I will have it again next year, I hope everyone will consider coming. I will have meet report up soon!
