Al…..there’s been LOTS of times your life has been in danger, I’ll never forget working out with you and having the cow come in that we had to pull the dead calf out of……and when that cow kicked back with the force crush a mans skull and just missed your knee……that thing connects and you become a bench press specialist for life!!!!

Tedd made a comeback later on….sort of. That’s what happens when you try a routine like that when you haven’t worked out for awhile. I think he is sufficiently mad enough at himself that he will return home and begin working for round two when he comes home for Christmas. I completed the entire program and my right knee was a little sore and my left hip was sore (but then again, it’s always sore). I’m hoping to be at 275 by March. I’ve lost 16lbs since August.

Yes, my routine was written down and it took up 8 pages including the motivational speech I had prepared for Tedd which went like this:

You know there ain’t no tricks to throwin’ far so no sense us going down that same old road again.

To win, you need speed….and you don’t have it. If you can’t be faster, then you damn sure better be stronger.

And your knees can’t take the pounding and you probably got some arthritis and calcium deposits on your shoulder so high rep throwin’ is out

So what we’ll be callin’ on is good old fashioned blunt force STRENGTH

Horse power, heavy duty, cast iron, pile drivin’ throws that will go so far it will rattle his ancestors

Every time you throw, it will snap his neck so hard lookin’ that it will feel like he tried kissin’ the express train.

Ain’t no shortcuts, ain’t no excuses, at our age you ain’t got no time to wait……because we ain’t got too many more tomorrows……

So let’s start buildin’ to throw some bombs

Here’s what would happen. We had loaders and we would move a weight up and call for the lifter. We were needing to hit an attempt about every 90 seconds to make this successful. I know at certain weights, there might be 5,6, or more attempts and as soon as one lifter was done, the next would step up. Well, for example, I got a side press and it was passed, then Joe got out the RULE BOOK and pointed out that I did not have my feet close enough so I had to take it again. Normally, we would have just made sure on the rules of the lift BEFORE doing the lift, but with the rapid fire set up it made it difficult. Now, that being said, I honestly feel that every lift we did was 100% legit. One of the big reasons was experienced judges like Joe & Chad being there. I recall having a question in my mind on a lift, but the lifter was ready so I ended up peeling thru my rule book while the lift was being done only to discover I was right in my interpretation and in that case, the lift was good and no big deal.

I learned a lot and “if” we do this again I know how I want to do it! thom

Hey, it was a little hectic that night!! That lift was called good as was several only to be thought about and then retracted. I told the guys I didn’t want us to sacrifice good judging for time constraints so we had two or three lifts completed, called good, and then a review of the rules, or judges getting together, or (and this is real sportsmanship) the lifter not feeling it was good enough.

On a side note, the last of the pledge checks came in (almost $3000 in total were were responsible for) and many, many positive comments. Janie Fouch, our school principal is sending me a thank you letter and I will share it’s contents on this board.

Yeah, you got a lot of insulting to catch up on! Plus, I know it takes you awhile to formulate a snappy comeback…so take your time. I’ll wait.

Chad’s info is so important, we get to read it twice.

I’m just picturing Al getting over there and realizing he’s the keynote and then trying to give a speech thru a translator that doesn’t translate Al’s “humorous” anecdotes properly and Al angers the muslims in the crowd with some story about cooking bacon on his green egg and suddenly creates an international incident……..
