Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderYou should work in a medical school like I do……you see some WEIRD stuff in offices. We got this one doc that is hands down the best surgeon I’ve ever seen…..and he keeps EVERYTHING he’s ever removed in surgery in glass jars in a special room in his basement. I asked him if he was doing some kind of longitudinal study or some other type of research….he said, “No, I just like it”…..and I kid you not, when he said, “LIKE IT” I swear his eye twinkled! haha

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderOk, first of all, what’s the story. Second of all, I thought I was the only one with deer skulls in his gym. I have a pile of antler, sheds, and from hunting in the corner and believe it or not, a weight got dropped on one and smashed the skull…..don’t tell me this happened again! We need to warn the general public of this hazard or it will happen all across the country.
…..and Tully’s chisled muscles….has he been workin’ out?

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderI have been a counselor (Licensed Professional Counselor, National Board Certified Counselor, and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor) for about 18 year total. During that time, I’ve worked with a good number of athletes in this area.
When I was doing the substance abuse counseling exclusively, you would see trends. For example, we would start getting referrals of teens from a certain town for a certain drug in clusters. When they would come in, they would all know each other and be getting their drugs from the same source. On more than one occassion, we would have a local sports team do well, go to state, seemingly dominate. Then I’d start seeing them come into treatment. One kid was in for meth. His local football team had a great season and he had rushed for 200 plus yards a game. He told me that a local doctor (who’s son was on the team) was supplying them with steroids and administering them. He told me that before games they would take pain pills, meth, and then go crazy on the field. Then later, he’d end up drinking himself into a stupor trying to come down from this. He had been referred to me after he punched about a hundred holes in his bedroom wall and then attacked his mother. She refused to contact police. My point is, I had many high school kids locally (in a very rural area) that would admit using drugs for performance, Meth and steroids being a couple of big ones, then using marijuana and alcohol to come down. Now, when a local team seems to be playing beyond their capabilities….I wonder.
Everyone on here knows how I feel about this and how passionate I am about it. Only the survivors get to tell their story and these things add up over a lifetime.

Highland Games athlete and sometimes All-RounderMy problem is that it keeps working (eating my way out of a slump). Last winter I dropped from 310 down to 288 and was on my way to my 280 goal….when my training slumped. So, the diet went out the window and I’m back to 306…..and setting PR’s left and right.
Years ago I was weighing 238 and dropped down to 185 (yeah, I was about 22 years old). I just did cardio, mostly bike riding (even did a 100 mile ride).
Then I went back to weigh training, was weak as a cat, and bulked back up. It’s easy for me to lose weight when I try, my problem is that I don’t want to try that hard! haha
