Obviously Mr. Willingham is much more cultured and educated that Doc Myers on matters such as your finer farm machinery!

Al, my tractor is 63 years old (which Art and Dale would consider a slightly used tractor)and it is till running strong (just fired it up last night and did some hay hauling!) whereas your mower, in 63 years, will likely be recycled into a scooter, a half dozen frying pans, a “Total Gym”, and a playground in California. ….and yes, for your information the 8N was made by Henry Ford and Harry Furgeson who shared cutting edge technology after retooling their plants (for making TANKS for WWII) to design and make one of the most durable pieces of equipment ever seen by mankind. I fully believe that a thousand years from now they’ll dig one of these out of the ground, throw a new 6 volt batter in it, and drive it out on the spot!!! ……and for your information, that baby has 30 horses!

I’m sure you’ve got a 2011 Dixie Chopper XCalibur Industrial Mower that can mow 10 acres and hour at 32 mph top speed with computer guided GPS mowing where you can take your nap while you mow…..it even has it’s own plug in for your television…

But me, I got a classic, that looks “almost” as good as that picture.

Oh, that’s just great! My getting schooled on the pinky deadlift pushed us over the top on the first “hot topic”.

I don’t suppose I can claim now that I “let” Bill beat me. Like I somehow knew that if I failed, that Bill would come up, do it, and then I “pretended” to fail again several times just to make a good story? Would anyone believe that….I guess not. HAHA

I was really humbled by this article. I get a lot of trouble when Al pointed out I seemed to write alot of article about “me”, but this was hard for me to read. That was a long, difficult climb and I feel blessed and fortunate on many levels.

As for the eye patch, funny enough, I had to wear one for about a year. I got one of the cool “pirate” style patches. I still keep one, a lot of people don’t know this but I’m partially blind in my left eye and suffer double vision. I wear the patch when it gets bad….plus it makes me look basazz! haha

On a side note, I had a short haircut when I went into the hospital. That picture shows how long I had already been there as that’s how long my hair go. I decided not to get it cut for about 6 months….until this old guy thought I was a “little girl”!!! haha I immediately went to the barber shop. When I told the barber (an old WWII vet) that I wanted it all cut off, a crew cut, he smile and said, “This one’s on me, and if any of your friends want the same, I’ll cut their’s for free, too”. The Peanut gallery in the barber shop erupted into laughter and clapped when I got done. This was your classic barber shop, even had the shoe shine stand.

                                  Al, take it easy! hahaha

I agree with your assessment. I have already started promoting my Nationals and the question I get is “What lifts” because if there’s one lift they don’t want to do because they think they will look bad, then they will not do it!

I’ll never forget Ol’ Clark slipping out of his chair when I failed at 145lb on the pinky deadlift and he limped up to the bar and pulled it right up. Had I been 20 years younger I’d probably been like, “This stuff is a joke”. But being older (much older….haha) and more mature (no comments from Dave) I laughed off Al’s hysterical laughter as Bill completed the lift! It’s all in fun and the pay off is when you hit that one lift that is “your baby” and you really shine! That’s always a cool moment when you are at a meet and somebody pulls out a lift that fits their leverages and it makes your jaw drop. Like Chad on the Arthur lift, or Mark on the Reeves Deadlift. That’s where the focus needs to be!!!!!
